DigiData AI or ChatGPT and Claude via MCP?
Remote assistants are flexible; DigiData AI is purpose-built for controlled analysis of synchronized business data. Both can benefit from the same database-first architecture, but differ in semantics, external processing, channels and accountability.

Why DigiData AI is the recommended route
- Instant analysis on synchronized PostgreSQL data without a live source API call
- Richer approved metrics, relationships, joins, and business definitions
- Webchat, Teams, email, dashboards and scheduled automations
- Central agent, table, column and tenant governance
- One responsible party for synchronization, analysis, monitoring and support
When MCP fits
- Your organization already has an approved ChatGPT or Claude workspace
- You want to combine company data with other tools from that assistant
- You accept that data after export is also subject to the terms and conditions of the external provider
- You can live with a smaller, stable and bounded public tool contract
Architecture and speed
DigiData synchronizes source data in advance. Both DigiData AI and the MCP route therefore avoid source authentication, network delay, rate limits and source pagination during the query. MCP does add the external provider, OAuth/MCP transport, and often multiple model tooling rounds. Only publish measured speed differences; this page does not claim an unproven benchmark.
Training and storage
DigiData and the Azure foundation model service configured for DigiData do not use customer queries and company data to train models. For an external assistant, the chosen subscription, management settings and provider contract also apply.
DigiData stores all its own user and application data within the EU. Data that an administrator deliberately sends to an external assistant via MCP also falls under the storage and processing conditions of that provider.
Practical advice
Start with DigiData AI for recurring control information and centrally managed definitions. Add MCP when remote assistant flexibility has a concrete benefit and security, privacy, and workspace management have explicitly approved the data flow.
Comparison in one overview
| Subject | DigiData AI | ChatGPT or Claude via MCP |
|---|---|---|
| Recommended for | Recurring, controlled business analysis | Flexible use in an external assistant |
| Interactive data path | Directly on synchronized PostgreSQL data | The same DigiData data via OAuth, MCP and external model/tool rounds |
| Semantics | Rich approved metrics, relationships and definitions | Only what the bounded public MCP contract offers |
| Channels | Webchat, Teams, email, dashboards and automations | Depending on provider, plan and workspace policy |
| Training | No training on customer questions or company data | DigiData does not train; provider plan, settings and contract also apply |
| Storage | All DigiData user and application data within the EU | DigiData copy in the EU; exported data also falls under provider storage |
| Support | End-to-end by DigiData | Shared between DigiData and the external provider |
